To achieve the mission of making Delhi a smarter city,
the government has taken another major step.
The Delhi government has decided to
connect each home with optical fiber network, thus making every home accessible
to various modes of digital technology. Societies like Revanta Smart Residency L zone
will be amongst the first to witness the historic change. Through optical fiber
network, each home will have a broadband, cable TV and landline telephone. The
government has announced that within the end of this year, East Delhi will have
high wifi connectivity over 500 locations with 1000 hotspot zones. Everyone
will have an access to free internet but up to predetermined limit daily.
The
news was confirmed by the Dialogue and Development Commission vice chairman,
AshishKhetan. He revealed the government has decided to lay down optic fiber in
townships like Revanta Smart Residency
and all other houses, to provide internet to people at gigabit speed. Soon the
limit on usage of internet per day will be disclosed in a tender as per the
guidelines of TRAI. This home to fiber project will be carried out by Public
Works Department. The vision of this step is to provide basic internet access
to Delhites which in turn will improvise education, health power, security and
public transit.
